The Gold Coast Light Rail opened this month

23.07.2014

nadineHello! I am Nadine and I am the Student Services Manager at Langports Gold Coast.

Those of you who are studying (or have studied) here at the Gold Coast campus would have noticed the construction of the light rail (aka tram) going on over the past 2 ½ years.  You’d have also noticed that the trams have been running, albeit empty, over the past few months.  The trams have been in test mode, making sure that everything runs smoothly before they’re open to take passengers.

The new tram system will work in conjunction with the current bus network on the Gold Coast, with trams running approx. every 7.5 mins (during peak periods) from the Gold Coast University Hospital (Southport) to Pacific Fair (Broadbeach).

These will be the first trams IN THE WORLD that will come complete with surfboard racks!

The good news is, you can now ride the tram.  The Gold Coast tram was officially opened this Sunday and more than 55,000 people have jumped on board of the light rail!

Don’t forget — the nearest station to Langports is ‘Surfers Paradise Station, near Clifford St’ — this is right out the front of the Q1 tower, the tallest tower on the Gold Coast. To check your journey, visit the Translink website: www.translink.com.au

Enjoy your ride!
