To complement our existing programs, we have a number of Volunteer programs that are designed to help students engage in the local community. Some programs have to be pre-booked, while others can be organised at the time of study.

Get involved with the local community! – At Langports students are encouraged to become part of their local community. The English + Community volunteering program will help students gain life experience, learn new skills and knowledge, develop new interests, expand their work portfolio and make a meaningful impact on society.

Experience working with Australian children! – The goal is this project is to experience working with Australian children and childcare professionals, and gain practical experience working with children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years old in an English speaking environment with professionnally trained staff.

Help save the reef! – Learn how to scuba dive, gain an understanding of the environmental issues facing the marine eco-system and use your new skills to contribute to the preservation of coral reefs on the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.

Help conserve native wildlife! – By joining this program, you will have the opportunity to help repair some of the damage created by human development and natural disasters to Australia’s unique wildlife, and make a real contribution to the conservation of threatened species by protecting indigenous animals and plants.

Community volunteering

English + Community Volunteering

Available in Brisbane
In addition to our pre-booked programs, students in Brisbane may have the opportunity to do some volunteering on a part-time basis whilst studying. Students can volunteer at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary – Helping the rangers with maintaining a safe habitat for native animals
  • Part-time volunteering after school or on weekends during your English course
  • Bookings can be made after you start your course
  • Students must study a minimum of 12 weeks of English
  • Minimum English level required: Intermediate +

English + Eco Volunteering

Available in Brisbane
Available in Gold Coast

ECO Volunteering options include:

Help save the Reef! – A 12-day project on the Great Barrier Reef to get your PADI Open Water Certification and contribute to the preservation of coral reefs (activities include collecting data, observing the reef conditions & surveying animals and plants).

Help conserve native wildlife! – A 12 to 36-days project in New South Wales to assist with the conservation of Australia’s native wildlife, such as koalas & kangaroos (helping to feed the animals, cleaning enclosures, building and repairing fences, making sure their habitat is protected).

  • Full-time volunteering after completion of an English program at Langports
  • Pre-booking essential
  • Students must study a minimum of 6 weeks of English
  • Minimum English level – intermediate (a pre-test will be required)
Child care

English + Child Care Volunteering

Available in Brisbane
A 1 to 6-week program in based in Brisbane where you will experience working with Australian children and childcare professionals. Your tasks may include, welcoming the children in the morning, preparing lunches, playing with the children, supervising nap time and learning about the Australian childcare system.
  • Full-time volunteering after completion of English at Langports
  • Pre-booking essential
  • Blue Card required (no cost)
  • Students must study a minimum of 12 weeks of English
  • Minimum English level – intermediate (a pre-test will be required)
