Work

Many students rely on finding a job while they are studying in Australia. They might need additional money to pay for their living costs, travelling experiences or may just want to gain more experience in their study area. Work is a way of not only earning money but is also an excellent way of meeting people, gaining useful skills and using English.
There are many places you can look for a part time job, but here are a few suggestions:

A tax file number (TFN) is a unique nine-digit number that the ATO (Australian Tax Office) issues to individuals and organizations to help administer tax and other Australian government systems. You can apply for a TFN online.

Please note that you will need to have a TFN to be able to receive your first pay. Therefore, if you are planning to work in Australia, it is important that you apply for your TFN as early as possible (once you have arrived in the country).

A basic resume has five parts that are necessary to be effective. The five parts are as follows:

Students’ ability to work will firstly depend on their visa type.
  • Student visa holders are allowed to work for up to 40 hours every 2 weeks, and for an unlimited number of hours during their holidays.
  • Working Holiday visa makers are not restricted in term of hours (but are restricted to employment for 6 months in one company)

Job Help is a complimentary service that all students can benefit from. The Student Services Team offer tips and skills in searching for a job, preparing resumes and applying for a tax file number (TFN). While we do not place students or guarantee work, we share information and job search websites with our students.

Langports also holds job seminars for students after school and organises RSA (responsible service of alcohol) courses for students at discounted prices.
