What is L.A.W.?

Instead of simply relying on the traditional English language textbook approach, our teachers are trained to be able to teach beyond the textbook, exploring the important areas of grammar and vocabulary. Modern research has highlighted the importance of grammar and vocabulary being taught together, especially in the classroom.

In order to achieve this, teachers at Langports, through our in-house teacher training program, are trained on how to teach grammar and vocabulary and how to make it more understandable and enjoyable for students. Common feedback from our students is that Langports teachers are able to answer their grammar questions clearly and easily, creating more ‘light-bulb’ moments – this is a result of L.A.W.

Our Team

Anna France

CEO

Anna France has been working at Langports in many different roles since the college opened in Brisbane in 2004. Starting in the Student Services team and later in the Marketing team, she brings a depth of knowledge to Langports. Anna has “grown up” in Australia with international homestay students staying with her family since she was a baby. Helping students reach their personal and educational goals is Anna’s passion.

John France

Director & Founder

John France is the founder of Langports English Language College and chairman of The Langports Group. He has been in the TESOL profession for over thirty years and is very highly regarded throughout the world for the quality of his schools. John believes that the success of Langports should be used to greater benefit of society and in 2007, established The Langports Foundation (TLF). TLF is a charity that supports disadvantaged children through education.

Alison Lennon

Director of Studies & Academic Manager

Alison has been in the ELICOS Industry for 30 years. She began as a study tour teacher and guide and then ESL teacher at many schools across the Gold Coast. After a couple of years travelling the world as an International Flight Attendant, Alison settled back down on the Gold Coast and continued teaching English. She has since extended her qualifications with an International Diploma of Language Teaching Management and Advanced Diploma in Leadership and Management. These Degrees allowed her to move into management positions at schools on the Gold Coast as well as teaching in the VET sector. Alison is a true Gold Coast local, having lived and worked on the Gold Coast for 50 years. She prides herself on being Aussie mum to all her students as well as 3 children of her own.

Barry Clifford

Director of Student Services

Barry has worked in the Education Industry since 1994. Prior to working at Langports, Barry was the Operations Manager in the Future Students Office at Bond University. Barry led a team of Student Advisors and Front office staff advising International and Domestic Students on course options and entry requirements. Prior to this, Barry was the CEO at Nudgee International College, an ELICOS College and Registered Training Organisation where he also coordinated Study Tour programs hosting, at its peak 1200 Student Tour Students per annum.

Lillian Tran

Director of Studies BNE

Lillian is passionate about teaching and helping people change lives through education. She holds a Master’s Degree in TESOL and a number of certificates of teaching English as a second language. She began her teaching career in 1996. Over 20+ years working in the English Language Teaching industry Lillian has had opportunities to work in different educational institutions in Australia and overseas. Lillian’s teaching experience includes General English, English for Academic Purposes, Cambridge Young Leaners exam preparation, as well as FCE and IELTS exam preparation courses. Lillian takes professional pride in her teaching career. Lillian’s life philosophy is ‘It’s never too late to learn.’

The Langports Foundation is a charity founded by John France to help disadvantaged children through education.

John believes that the success of Langports should be used to the greater benefit of society, and in 2007, established The Langports Foundation. Both our Brisbane & Gold Coast campuses are members of this foundation contributing to helping make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged youth.
