Hi my name is Keely, and I am the new Langports Marketing and Communications officer – and a former Gold Coast local! I was lucky enough to grow up on the GC and wanted to share what we usually get up to and all the best spots.
If there is one thing the Gold Coast is known for it’s our beaches. Of course, there is Surfers Paradise beach and Burleigh beach, but have you explored any others?
One of my favourites is Currumbin Beach, a little further south, where you’ll see a picture-perfect stretch of sand between two rocky faces. It offers arguably the best view of the Gold Coast skyline, and you can watch (or join in!) as the locals surf the waves.
My friends and I also frequent Tallebudgera Creek, just over the other side of Burleigh Hill. One of our favourite things to do is walk from Burleigh Beach and over the hill where you will see the most perfect swimming spot. The water is calmer here and you can even hire paddleboards and canoes for the day.

Venturing inland from the beach, you’ll encounter even more of the Gold Coast’s natural beauty. The hinterland is home to many picturesque national parks and hiking trails with breathtaking scenery. For locals, the most popular spot is Springbrook National Park, famous for its stunning waterfalls like Purling Brook Falls and Twin Falls. You can also take a short walk through the rainforest to reach The Natural Bridge, a rock formation covered with glow worms that light up the cave at night.
While our beaches and parks are the best in the world, there’s also much more to the Gold Coast!
One of the best things about the coast is its café and food culture. Cafés are typically open from 6am and are always buzzing with activity. Whether you’re after a quick coffee, brunch, or dinner and drinks there’s something for everyone. Here are some of my top picks:
Paddock Bakery: Nestled in Miami, great for delicious pastries, big brunches and excellent coffee.
MexiCali: This is the perfect dinner and drinks location loved by locals in Nobbys Beach.
Tedder Avenue: Tedder Ave in Main Beach is home to so many delicious cafes that I could not even pick a favourite! A must visit.

Besides the beaches and cafés, the Gold Coast also has great places to shop, with my favourite being Pacific fair, or Pac fair as the locals call it.
I may be a bit biased, but the Gold Coast is truly one of the best places in the world. From the beach to bites, it offers so many special and unique experiences that you’ll never be bored!
