Hi everyone, my name is Chris. I am the Recreation & Community Engagement Officer at Langports Sydney. Today, I would like to talk about one of the best activities you will experience here at Langports, the weekend Surf Camp.
A few weeks ago, 17 Langports students including myself travelled 3 hours south of Sydney to beautiful Bendalong.
This trip provided students with the perfect opportunity to get to know each other while also having an amazing weekend away to learn how to surf, living on the beach, enjoying the outdoors with friends, swimming in rock pools, music and campfires.
We arrived in Bendalong on Friday night to an amazing campsite. Everything from kitchen, to the volleyball nets, to our tents were set up by the amazing staff from Australian Surf Tours. We had ourselves a classic aussie BBQ followed by music and drinks before we headed off to bed.
From the moment, we woke up on Saturday there was a great vibe around the whole campsite, feeding parrots. We were split up into two groups; one was to have the first surf lesson of the weekend, while the others went to feed giant stingrays. While we did not have any Gabriel Medinas or Kelly Slaters surfing with us, it was still a fun activity with everyone learning the basic surfing skills. After an amazing lunch prepared by the staff, we surfed again and got the chance to get up close with Kangaroos and feed them.
We finished the night off with fun campfire by the ocean with drinks and music. For our last day, we had an amazing surf lesson and yoga by the beach. After packing up all our bags, we drove back to Sydney, feeling tired and exhausted from our adventurous weekend.
This activity is offered to students every month, so I would highly encourage all to participate in this.
