Bushwalking in Brisbane

06.02.2013

Hi everybody,

My name’s Genesio and I wanted to share with you a hobby that I not only have loved most of my life but which has given me so much! My wife and family, great friends, and so many good memories.

In many countries it is called “hiking” but in Australia it is generally called bushwalking. This ranges from walking through rugged mountain landscapes, lovely forest walks on Fraser Island to relaxing lazy walk along the beach!

Australia has a multitude of places to explore if you are interested in getting up and close to nature. The great thing for you guys is that you live in one of the best places for bushwalking, Brisbane!

About 25 years ago a friend of mine asked if I would like to go on a walk in Mount Tamborine and to be honest I didn’t even know where it was! But, I decided to go along and I was amazed at the beauty of the forest, creeks and waterfalls I saw. I have been hooked ever since. I started going on longer and longer walks and later joined a club called The Brisbane Bushwalkers. Through this club I have been to places I would never have had the chance of seeing.

So if you are interested in getting out there and meeting some Aussies in the process then why not join a club and see what Australia has to offer.

Happy walking!

Genesio
