One of the things you might notice when you walk through the doors of our Langports’ campuses are the many ‘English Only’ posters all over the walls!
This is a policy we enforce at Langports, to ensure that our students only communicate to one another in English on campus.
You might be wondering why we enforce such a strict rule.
By speaking English only, it ensures that our community is inclusive of all cultures on campus and encourages faster progress in developing language skills.
We understand that it is tiring for our students to speak in their non-preferred language all day, but by attending Langports you commit to reaching your English goals – and this is the secret to success!
Out of the language skills, writing and speaking are typically the hardest to master as they require the learner to use grammar and vocabulary skills at the same time to produce meaning.
Becoming a confident speaker of English is more difficult to achieve and takes commitment. A commitment to immerse yourself in English and make it your working language.
Whilst it can be frustrating, it is so worthwhile to speak English as much as you can!
So next time you catch yourself speaking to your Langports friends in your own language, think – English only!!
